The RockHound application consolidates a range of RockHounding resources into a user-friendly format, divided into four distinct sections. The app boasts an extensive database featuring over 160 locations and more than 60 types of rocks and gems, complete with full-screen imagery. Moreover, it allows users to customize their experience by adding personal sites and discoveries, all without the interruption of advertisements or in-app purchases.

• SITES: The application includes a comprehensive list of over 160 locations, navigable via an interactive map that displays the user’s current location or through a state-by-state list. Each site is accompanied by detailed descriptions, outlining the geological features and potential finds. Users have the ability to enhance the database by inputting GPS coordinates for their own discovered sites. Although predominantly featuring locations within the United States, the flexibility to add sites globally empowers users to cultivate their own RockHounding experiences.
• ROCKS: RockHound features a curated selection of over 60 varieties of rocks, minerals, and gemstones. Each entry includes informative descriptions and visuals, serving as an introductory guide rather than an exhaustive catalog. Users are encouraged to enrich this section by documenting their personal findings, complete with tailored descriptions and photographs.
• TIPS: The app offers general guidance on RockHounding practices, essential tools, and rock tumbling techniques. Additionally, it provides valuable insights on maximizing the app’s functionalities for an enhanced user experience.
• FAVORITES: Users can designate specific sites as favorites, with the option to attach images from their Photo Library or capture new ones directly through the app’s camera function. This feature facilitates personalized tracking of discoveries at each location. The Favorites section is particularly powerful, allowing users complete discretion over the documentation and visual representation of their selected sites.
